Nursery group with Llandudno and Conwy settings says 20% uplift post sent in ‘error’

Kids Planet Nurseries, who also has settings in Abergele and Denbigh, has “sincerely apologised for any concern or confusion caused” after a post on the app it uses to communicate with families stated that the cost of additional booked sessions would increase by 20 per cent from September 2026.

The message was posted on Tuesday morning (July 14) as part of an “exciting news” update to parents and carers. It related to additional sessions that can be booked through the app and stated that, from September 2026, these would be subject to a 20 per cent uplift.

The announcement attracted a huge response from parents and carers, with many voicing concern and anger. Comments were later disabled and the post was subsequently deleted.

Parents and carers at Kids Planet have a set number of sessions they are contracted to each week and can currently book extra sessions, with notice, at the same price as their usual booking days. In North Wales, full-day sessions generally cost £79.40.

However, the post said that from September 2026, additional sessions would be charged at an extra 20 per cent – a move parents said would particularly affect those who work shift patterns or need childcare on different days each week.

A spokesperson for Kids Planet Nurseries said: “A message containing incorrect information about a proposed increase in ad hoc childcare fees was sent to families in error, and we sincerely apologise for any concern or confusion this has caused.”

In January 2024, Kids Planet acquired Springfield Day Nurseries and Dragon Camps holiday club, taking on the settings in Llandudno, Colwyn Bay (West End and Ashbourne House), Conwy and Abergele.

It then went on to acquire The Wendy House Day Nursery in Brynford and Snuggles Day Nursery in Denbigh.
