A SPECIAL commemorative bench has been unveiled at Llandudno train station.
The bench will act as a memorial to all the key workers who have supported residents and businesses in the town throughout the pandemic.
It includes two planters at either end, similar to the benches on Upper Mostyn Street, which were also commissioned by the town council.
Cllr Harry Saville, mayor of Llandudno who attended the unveiling, said: “I was delighted to meet with the Transport for Wales station to find out about the positive feedback they had received about the new memorial bench and be shown around some of the improvements being made to the station.
“The station is a focal point within the town, so it’s the right place for a memorial to all of the key workers who have supported the town through the Covid-19 pandemic.”
A spokesperson from Llandudno Town Council said: “Finding the right location for the bench was a challenge, and the town council were delighted when Transport for Wales offered to host it outside Llandudno Railway Station.
“TfW’s staff based at Llandudno have received a number of positive comments from local residents and travellers since the bench was installed in late May.
“The visit was also an opportunity for the mayor to see some of the other improvements taking place at Llandudno Railway Station, including the recently refurbished waiting room which is due to open to the public in the not too distant future.”
