A FREE four-day festive event dubbed as the ‘biggest in North Wales’ social calendar’ will make its return this Thursday.
Llandudno’s second Christmas Extravaganza will return to town on November 17 and will run until Sunday, November 20.
About 30,000 people turned out for the event last year which is held on Trinity Square, Augusta Street and Madoc Street.
Again visitors can expect stalls galore, foodie treats, rides, entertainment, decorated igloos, as well as Mr and Mrs Claus.
Taking to the stage will be musicians, singers, and entertainers such as Llandudno Swing Band, Oompah Stompers, Yubaba, The Quaynotes Jazz Band, Marlaton Choir, Rock Choir North Wales, Cor Meibion Maelgwn and Linzi Grace School of Dance. There will also be a Magic Light Productions Show on the Sunday to conclude the event with a bang.
Ysgol Morfa Rhianedd Choir will open the Christmas Extravaganza on Thursday at 2pm on the main stage.
Chris Williams, chairman and director of Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza Ltd Co, has been approached for comment.
Last year, following the event, Mr Williams said he felt “quite emotional”.
He added: “We took this event on knowing it was going to be a challenge especially after the tough time many have endured over the last couple of years. At stages it looked like we wouldn’t achieve what we set out to do, however we persevered and created a Christmas event that I hope the town of Llandudno can be proud of.
“This wasn’t a Christmas market it was a Christmas Extravaganza which is exactly what we wanted.
“Our team worked tirelessly to ensure everyone had a great time and we are truly thankful for all of the support.
“This event was for Llandudno. I know it had many teething problems but we have taken everything on board and our small team will work tirelessly to make any improvements needed to try and satisfy the many different needs of the residents and businesses.”
On the Saturday (November 19) there will be a Light up The Night display at the back of Trinity Church on Trinity Square. This will be hosted by Marie Curie; There will be readings from Marie Curie nurses and performances from the Conwy Choir for Good.
The Extravaganza will run from 10am until 9pm on the Thursday, Friday and the Saturday and will run from 10am until 5pm on the Sunday.
